I know you talked about listing schools that aren’t “art” schools. BUT the Art Institute is an extremely good school for interior design. They teach you everything you need to know to be a successful designer and work with you with internships and job placements to help you. They also offer meetings for LEED certification which is really important for knowing about Green design and environmentally friendly products. The location in Orange County is CIDA accredited (The Council for Interior Design Accreditation). Technically it is a private school.

I looked online and both do not have degrees relating to Interior Design. If you decide to check out Ai, they offer a BS in Interior Design and you can receive that degree in about 3 years full time. It is an accelerated program so it is a lot of work but worth it. They have locations in OC, LA, SD, and SF. If you decide that Ai isn’t what you want but you want to be an interior designer or teacher for interior design, make sure that they school you choose is
1. Recognized by ASID and is accredited (preferably by CIDA).
2. Offers hand drafting, computer drafting with AutoCAD, sketching, 3D MAX, Photoshop and REVIT.
3. Has teachers that have worked in the field and have experience as designers.

The last one isnt a requirement but it does help a lot! If you want to become a teacher, most teachers (at least my school) have masters degrees that you can obtain with another year or two of schooling. I would say, get your degree and work in the field awhile. Get a good idea of what you like and if you still want to become a teacher. Definently do your homework and search around for what will work best with your situation. Good Luck!

I know this is probably a dumb suggestion, but you didn’t specifically mention it, so I’ll give it a shot.

If any of you have a TV, and a Wii – that’s a really good setup for guests and whatnot. Also, as a “Wii TV” you won’t have to pay for cable or anything.

One tip is that fewer plants can make your garden more dramatic.

Take your garden as a whole. In creating your garden, people would not just look at one side; they will look at the entire thing. You should start trying to picture out your garden as one whole picture rather than taking one side of it. If you have a limited space, then try thinking of a design that would not clutter that limited space. You do not have to use the entire space for plants. You can always use other tools to make your garden attractive and beautiful.

Always remember that this is your garden. Do what makes you feel good. Do what makes you see your garden as something beautiful. Be creative and do not let anything or anyone stop you. Your garden represents who you are so think carefully and plan out what you think will best represent you.
